I began blind sketching at a dance performance. Watching in the dark, ears following the line and rhythm of music; and eyes, the gestures of the human form moving through space, my mind guiding my hand to sketch without the distraction of what the paper looked like. The sketches are snapshots of “now”: liminal moments between before and after. - Moments of change

 

I find the concept of “human identity” reflected in the harmonious complexity of music and the flow and interaction of dance. Within the sketches I find forms, shapes, and line that speak to me of the inner fluidity of human identity. 

 

The paintings of Summer 2015 are illusory mind-scapes through which the viewer may explore the complex flow, rhythm, and relationships within their own personal identity.
